For many years the biggest issue in our lives has been surviving but having managed to do that it was decided that the route from the parlour to the fields had got to the point that it really needed to be solved.

Hannahs new pony

 SADIE - THE NEW PONY

Since Hannah was able to recognise a pony which was probably eight months she has wanted to ride. At eighteen months she would sit on the arm of the settee with her riding hat on, a stick in her hand and her wellie boots on, oh I forgot a dummy in her mouth, she'll love that and watch the racing on channel four.

 Our morning starts usually about 5.30am, a nice cup of tea before getting out sets everything right. Zip the collie puppy is quite good as an alarm clock because by 6am he is waiting to fetch the cows and can be quite vocal barking and pulling at your trouser leg, not funny if you are wearing shorts!

The herd of cows at White Horse farm consists of 35 milking cows, 9 in-calf heifers and 5 baby heifer calves so far!  The cows are mainly Friesian Holstein but there are also a couple of Guernsey’s, a couple of shorthorn and two young Brown Swiss. The cows at the farm are the main income producers.

Three Counties Show 2009 Print E-mail

The Three Counties Show held in the beautiful Malvern Hills gave us seven awards:

  • Berkshire Champion, Reserve Champion (Broadwood Royal Lustre)
  • Berkshire Gilt, born after January 2009, 1st place (Broadwood Royal Lustre)
  • Berkshire Boar, born on or after 1 July 2008, 2nd place. (Broadwood Royal Lustre)
  • Berkshire Gilt, born after July 2009, 2nd place (Broadwood Royal Lustre)
  • Gloucester Old Spot Boar, born in 2009,  3rd place (Broadwood Patrick)

The Royal Cornwall Show is one of my favorites and had another successful event with two awards:

  • Gloucseter Old Spot Boar, born in 2009, 2nd place (Broadwood Patrick)
  • Berkshire Boar, born in 2009, 3rd place (Broadwood Royal Lustre)

The Devon County Show saw us achieve three awards:

  • Gloucester Old Spot Boar, born in January 09, 2nd place (Broadwood Patrick)
  • Berkshire Boar, born in January 09, 2nd place, (Broadwood Namatjira)
  • Hannah entered the young handler and came third.
